Away from being an avid Internet user and trying to be the first to know things, I am most happy when up a mountain taking in panoramic snow covered views, and skiing back down the mountain to a cup of hot chocolate or something stronger… It’s idyllic and exhilarating. I spent the winter of 2010/11 in Les Gets, France part of the Portes du Soleil ski area and have been very lucky to go back there a number of times since both in summer and winter.
Le Pas de Chavanette, also known as the Swiss wall, is a piste in the area, on the border between France and Switzerland. It’s so steep and difficult that it is actually classified as ‘orange’, which means that it is too difficult to fit in the standard classification of ski runs. It is 1km in length and has a vertical drop of 331 meters, starting at 2,151 meters above sea level.
I found out all of this before I went to France, and declared to anyone who would listen at the beginning of the season that I had to do it - found out a fair number of my seasonnaire friends haven’t done it, won’t do it, or don’t even know about it! The gradient at the top is so steep that you can’t see what is below you. We climbed up some rocks and peered over before my friends Lucy and Hugo, coaxed me into going over the edge - i.e. Lucy went first and I had to follow. I did it when it was closed and had very little snow on it. It was ridiculous, but a risk worth taking.
However, I think I’ll just stick to ski holidays rather than working whilst skiing!

Or away from the slopes, I love live music and more than happy roughing it a festival. 2011 saw me go to Glastonbury and Bestival - ok so I sound like I have a lot of surplus cash, I don’t, I just budget and have a lovely credit card. Festivals are so good, they’re like mini holidays, music, socialise with friends, meet new people - if you’re lucky some sunshine! My iPod is a bit eclectic…
Other than that, I’m just me. A keen project manager with too many good friends and a social media addiction. I love Draw Something too.
